What is LASIK?

LASIK eye surgery is a popular and effective laser procedure for correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. The need for glasses and contacts can be eliminated or significantly reduced, depending on your age and individual eye condition.

We Are Experienced LASIK Eye Surgeons

We have been performing LASIK at the TLC Laser Eye Center since 1999. Our practice currently uses the latest technology including the IntraLase, Allegretto, Wavelight, and VISX STAR S4 lasers to treat a wide range of prescriptions. IntraLase is a special infrared laser used to create the LASIK flap without a blade. As a highly experienced Rockville IntraLase specialist, Dr. Frank creates all corneal flaps using the sophisticated IntraLase technology. He also uses the state-of-the-art Allegretto and VISX lasers, which are among the best technologies in the world for correcting various prescriptions.

Are You Interested in LASIK Eye Surgery in Rockville?

The first step is to call our office and set up an initial screening examination. There is no fee for this evaluation, which includes auto-refraction to measure your prescription, auto-keratometry to measure the curvature of your cornea, and pachymetry to measure the corneal thickness. If these measurements qualify for the laser treatment, we will discuss your realistic goals and expectations, as well as risks. Another detailed and comprehensive eye examination will be performed approximately one week before the laser procedure. During the procedure, our Rockville / Potomac LASIK eye surgery patients may experience a brief pressure sensation, but even sensitive patients usually tolerate the procedure very well.

Allegretto EX500 Laser

The Allegretto EX500 Laser for LASIK is a new laser device and the only one of its kind to operate at 500 Hz, which can decrease the time of the procedure to approximately 1.4 seconds per diopter. This innovative laser system can adjust refractions more precisely than any previous device and lead to the best visual outcomes for our Washington, DC area patients.

After LASIK Surgery: Quick Recovery Time with Minimal Discomfort

LASIK has been very popular due to rapid visual recovery and minimal discomfort. Most of our Rockville laser eye surgery patients can return to driving and work in 1–3 days. We will carefully guide you through the pre-op, laser treatment, and post op care.

Estimated procedure time: less than 30 minutes
